The Cape Digital Foundation is a not-for-profit agency with an overriding passion to make an impact in seeing South Africans’ lives improved as people are enabled to take up and use technology and digital tools, to make their lives easier and more productive.

The Foundation is mandated to initiate and coordinate initiatives that promote the financial and social inclusion of all people through the uptake of citizen-lead technology. By enabling active citizens who have a voice, future technology and innovations can be shaped around bringing a solution to real-world problems rather than technology prescribing a presumptuous solution from the top down.

We believe that valuable innovation will be born of the Internet-enabled informal sector. It gives people agency and purpose, and has the capacity to build our nation and create unity.

The Cape Digital Foundation stands for bold action and positive, sustainable impact

Our work is to engage with, and pave the way for, people and organisations who want to be a part of the action, to collaborate and invest in bringing South African citizens up to speed to meet the requirements of a thriving digital economy.

We believe that the rewards to be had are varied and priceless:

People empowered to live up to their full potential

A workforce equipped to participate in a modern, digital economy as well as promoting a valuable township economy

Business and society joining with government to enable citizens to access educational, business and social information on an affordable internet network
